Interior Painting

Painting is very simple, this is what I did.
I used a bucket, Isopropyl Alcohol (you
can get this anywhere, most commonly referred to as
rubbing alcohol), and a sponge. I put the alcohol in a
bucket, and used the sponge to scrub the oily/waxy
substance from the parts. This also removes the dirt,
and the cleaning/shining solutions as well. The sponge
is lint free for the most part,, this removes lint so it
can be painted with less flaws and debris in the paint.
Use some rubber gloves when using the alcohol, they will
be needed later as well. Next put the pieces in a spot
ready for painting. Use the rubber gloves when handling
the pieces, oil from your hands can cause "oil dips" in
paint. They look similar to inverted bubbles in paint.
Let it dry, the alcohol will evaporate.
Now that that's all finished, its time for painting. I
used "KRYLON" satin white for my dash. Its not all
glossy, and not exactly a flat paint. after you have
made sure you have cleaned it good and there is no
debris on the parts, we will begin the painting. Make
sure this is in a good spot for painting. Do not paint
on a windy day, try not to do it on grass unless you
have plenty of paper beneath it. lots of times grass has
bugs in it and they will get in your paint, trust me.
Using VERY LIGHT COATS spray it on the part. Do not
spray much at all, let it dry. Do this several times
until each coat dries. This may take a while, but don't
rush it. You'll appreciate it later. After every coat is
dry and you have alot of coats on there, go over a few
extra times just to get some good coats on there. One
again, light coats add up, so make the coats light. let
them dry.
Next, when your done painting, its time for clear
coating. I used KRYLON satin clear as well. I would
suggest you stick with the same brand, some brands don't
work well together. Use lots of light coats, and do the
same procedure you did with the paint. USE LOTS OF CLEAR
COAT! this will help keep the paint from being chipped
off. Let it dry and be careful!!!
Remember, this is paint not dye, it will come off, so be
careful with it.
